Hubble collects images of the comet Ison

The scientists wait impatient for the step of the comet Ison over the surface of the Sun the 28th of November, day which it will be seen easily from the Earth. The space telescope Hubble collected an image of Ison when this was at 634 million km of the Earth, it is incredible because at that distance his activity can be noticed.

Since September 2012, when it was discovered, this is going to be the first time that it penetrates the Solar System. Ison is different to the other comets, since the rest only are visible when they are near the Sun.

The scientists are using images so that they determine the size of the kernel, and this way they can know more about his activity when it happens near the Sun, since now it is only known that his diameter is not bigger of 3 or 4 miles. These measures are excessively small, that which obstructs the result of the data that itself has foreseen to collect in the face of step near the Sun.

In my opinion, to have telescopes as advanced in technology as it it is the Hubble, is one of the best advances so much scientific as technological, since thanks to them it can be observed as the things evolve in the space, that is, as themselves the comets in this case, the discovery of new planets, we know whether there can be life in other planets…

One Response to Hubble collects images of the comet Ison

  1. GOOD!!. In a few months we’ll see what happens: ‘Northern sky watchers will get a good view‘ it i said in NASA’s ScienceNews.
    >> You’d include the link to Hubble Site, where the original photograph comes from (you can see here and enhanced image with a graphic scale)

    >> In your link to NASA I find interesting the video provided:

    >> A small detail:
You write this: ‘Ison is different to the other comets, since the rest alone are visible when they are near the Sun’ but you’d consider that…
    >>>> ‘only’ and ‘alone’ have different meaning
    >>>> the NASA’s spokesman says ‘for an object at such extreme distance, it is actually very bright‘ which is not exactly the same thing
